Growth Ripples Through The City Plans

CONNELL, Washington Real Estate News ~ The Coyote Ridge Corrections Center expansion is keeping city officials’ hands full as they prepare for the 65 percent increase in the town’s population they expect to come from the project.
At least 2,048 of the new folks will be serving time behind bars, but those numbers still count toward Connell’s overall population and have an impact on services the city must provide.
Prison workers and families of incarcerated relatives will be among several hundred more people expected to move into the community of 3,200.
When the expansion wraps up late next year, Coyote Ridge will have gone from a 600-bed, minimum-security prison to a 2,648-bed facility with minimum-, medium- and close-security areas.
The Department of Corrections will add about 450 employees to the prison’s staff of 180. And if patterns hold, a third of those new workers will live in the city and the rest will commute…[more]
