Howard Amon Park

Howard Amon Park is a lovely feature of the Tri-Cities Washington community. It is a 40-acre park found on the undulating banks of the Columbia River. As such, the park presents easy access to the Columbia River Front Trail. The park itself has low sheltered areas, the ~fingernail~ state, a wading pool, tennis courts, a boat launch and mooring dock, a restroom and two playgrounds.

The Columbia River Front Trail runs beside the historic Columbia River canal for tow and a half miles. An old railway bridge crosses the river, and has been converted to a pedestrian crossing. Lookout points along the trail provide a view of the rapids, and visitors can walk through the old pump houses and to learn about the history of the Columbian Water Works.

The trail and park has become a popular area for walking, jogging, socializing, and for taking in nature’s beauty. There are also several picnic table areas to provide a view of the river and the landscapes for a relaxing meal with friends, family or for some personal time out.

The trail is flat, paved and easy to walk. A trail map can be uploaded from:

So get physical, and get out there!
