April 3rd, 2007
Southeast Washington Real Estate News ~ For the safety, health and comfort of our visitors, patients and staff, Lourdes Health Network is pleased to provide a smoke-free environment – inside and out - effective April 2, 2007. This means that smoking by anyone is not permitted on any Lourdes Health Network campus.
“As a major provider of health care in the community, Lourdes mission is to create a healthy environment for our patients, visitors, employees, volunteers, and everyone who goes on our campus. We believe that we are setting a positive example for the community with genuine concern for everyone’s health. Non-smoking patients, visitors and staff are entitled to smoke free, litter-free areas surrounding Lourdes Health Network entrances and other public spaces,” Michelle Kellogg, Environment of Care Specialist for Lourdes Health Network said.
To help smokers who may have difficulty refraining from smoking while they’re on Lourdes Health Network property, nicotine replacement therapy (in the form of nicotine gum) will be available to visitors and may be obtained at Lourdes Medical Center’s Gift Shop. Patients may also speak with their provider about a prescription for nicotine replacement therapy (in the form of nicotine patches) during their stay.
