Richland Wa Gold Coast Historic District
February 1st, 2007
Richland Wa Real Estate area is host to the renowned Gold Coast Historic District was initiated by a group of homeowners from Hains Street meeting with the Council to ask that consideration be given to forming a historic district.
With the formation of the District, the City surveyed and categorized each alphabet home with the help of volunteers. Across the entire process over 5, 000 alphabet homes and prefab homes were reviewed. In the spring of 2003 a public forum was hosted by the City to ensure that the information was compiled, organized and mapped efficiently.
Following the meeting, the City was aware that most homeowners wanted to develop a historic district that did not have restrictions to property modifications. Richland Wa Real Estate area is listed on the National Register, and it aims to preserve the history of the area, as well as to promote tourism and to instill homeowner pride.
Additionally, the results of the City meeting established the beginning of a more comprehensive inventory and review process. The area included in the historic district status is smaller than originally planned for, with its boundaries starting at north of Davison Avenue, east of Howell Avenue, south of Willis Street and west of Davison Avenue and Hunt Avenue. The boundary was changed because some of the houses had had modifications done over time.
