April 18-20, 25-27 and May 2-4, a series of fun cultural programs aimed at student groups will be hosted.  Tamástslikt will provide free admission to its exhibits during the programs, as well as a $2 per student reimbursement to schools to offset their bus expense. Included in the programs, which last for a minimum of two hours, are such activities as Indian flintknapping demonstrations, tossing a spear with the ancient hunting tool, the atlatl and playing the traditional stickgame, described in the Lewis and Clark journals.

Students will also meet Tribal elders for insider stories corresponding to the museum’s exhibits. In addition, well-known interpreter Gary Lentz, a Washington state park ranger, will provide interpretations of the Corps of Discovery personalities, and Ron Craig will provide his nationally recognized interpretation of York, the only black man to accompany the expedition.

The program includes tours of the museum’s permanent exhibits, as well as its outside living culture village.  For student group reservations contact Susan Sheoships, education coordinator, 541-966-1913.
