There are a few things you need to remember when purchasing a new home. In this article I hope to educate you on some often overlooked items by buyers when purchasing a new home.

1. Your mortgage rate is negotiable. So many buyers go to their mortgage broker or banker and just ask for a rate and think that there is nothing else they can do. There are in fact many things you can do to get a better rate, such as know your credit score, get multiple quotes, play one broker against another, negotiate other expenses such a closing cost ect.
2. Always get a home inspection by a professional, certified home inspector. This can save you thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars in repairs and other costs. Many people spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a new home and are to cheap to pay 250 dollars to have the home inspected prior to purchase. Don’t be one of these people unless you are competent enough to know for yourself.
3. Always review all of your documents including mortgage, real estate, title, title insurance, and closing documents. Many times people make small errors that could cost you big time in the end. Make sure you go over all documents with a fine tooth comb. Also ask your Realtor to review documents as well.

This is a small list of things you need to remember to do when purchasing a new home. If you are in the market for a new home or property please contact a local realtor for more great tips and advice.
