Tri City Wa Chamber of Commerce. This fall marks a historic achievement for our community and for Washington State University Tri City. The acceptance of the first freshman class is something the Tri City Chamber of Commerce fully supports and is excited to play a role in its success. At last week’s meeting, the Board of Directors approved the motion to pledge a scholarship for an incoming Washington State University Tri City freshman.
A Scholar Dollars fund was created to accept donations for this worthy cause. Through the generosity of board members, the scholarship fund is well on it’s way to supporting the educational aspirations of a student. Windermere Real Estate and Community First Bank both stepped up to pledge a scholarship.
The approval of providing a scholarship has served to further strengthen the support by the Chamber. At the November board meeting, a motion to help manage the internship program was approved. The Chamber will help to link students with businesses by matching the program of study, skills and interests of the student with the needs of a regional business. Coupling education with hands on training will enable these students to graduate with the tools necessary to begin their careers and provide regional businesses with the types of skilled employees required to support business development and growth.
Washington State University Tri City hopes to provide a $3,000 scholarship to each incoming freshmen. To encourage the students continue their education at Washington State University Tri City until graduation, they students will be granted another $3,000 scholarship during their senior year. Additional support for incoming freshmen includes community mentoring and internships.
Your involvement in helping to educate, mentor and train our future business leaders is highly encouraged. If you are interested in making a donation to the scholarship fund, please call the chamber office. Whether contributions are $6, $60, $600, or $6000 every dollar collected will be applied towards funding higher education in our community.
